Connection Process & Requirements


Step 1: Service Availability

Once municipal water or sanitary service is installed at the property line and confirmed live by InnServices, property owners may apply for a Town building permit to connect.

A building permit is required prior to connection.

Step 3: Installing the Connection

Water Connection

  • Municipal water piping and water meter must be installed in accordance with Town bylaws and engineering standards.
  • All fixtures in the home must connect to municipal water.
  • Existing wells may be maintained for other uses, but must be fully disconnected from municipal water lines.
  • Once connected, contact InnServices to arrange water meter installation.

Sanitary Sewer Connection

  • Municipal sanitary piping must meet Town bylaws and engineering standards.
  • All sanitary drainage must connect to municipal sewer.
  • Existing septic systems must be disconnected and abandoned in accordance with municipal and provincial requirements.

Step 4: Construction Requirements

Installing a new municipal service requires open excavation from the property line to the residence, as well as internal plumbing work, completed by a qualified contractor.

Step 5: Inspection & Activation

Final inspections are completed by the Town of Innisfil. After approval is confirmed, InnServices will install the water meter and activate the service.
