Boil Water Advisory LIFTED for Cookstown, ON

22/06/22

Innisfil, ON - The Boil Water Advisory in Cookstown has been LIFTED! Lab test results have confirmed the water is safe and that no contamination occurred during the watermain break on Highway 89. Cookstown residents can resume using water as usual.

Following a watermain break on Highway 89 in Cookstown, the road was closed and operators worked around the clock to complete repairs. Once repairs were complete, the system was flushed and a water sample was collected for the necessary bacteriological testing. Water samples were tested by the lab, taking approximately 24 hours to receive the results. Laboratory results confirmed that the water is safe and that no contamination occurred during the watermain break. As a result, the boil water advisory was lifted and Cookstown residents can begin using water as normal.

InnServices followed all legislative requirements including provincial water main disinfection procedures. There is no health risk to residents. The boil water advisory was only precautionary while awaiting results from the lab.

Thank you for your patience while our staff conducted repairs, completed the necessary testing and worked closely with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit to ensure the safety of your water.

Following the advisory, customers may notice discoloration in their water. Please note that this does not pose a water quality concern. We recommend that you run your cold water tap for a couple of minutes to flush out any sediment which may have accumulated within your water service line after the repairs and flushing were completed.
