Cookstown Water Tower

Environmental Assessment

The Town of Innisfil 2023 Master Servicing Plan Update (MSP) has identified that Cookstown and Highway 400/89 area are expected to grow to approximately 2,900 residential population with 83 ha ICI lands by 2051. The planned expansion at the Lakeshore Water Treatment Plant identified in the MSP is sufficient to meet the municipal servicing needs for this growth. The existing Cookstown elevated water storage standpipes located at 4137 Highway 89,  cannot meet the servicing needs for the MSP’s Town’s growth and Fire flow requirements for Cooktown & Hwy 400/89 area.

As per the MSP, the preferred solution is a new water storage facility that has a total volume of 3,067 m3 to meet the combined storage requirement of both Cookstown and Hwy 400/89 area.

The current Cookstown Water Standpipe property is not large enough to construct a new storage facility therefore a new property near the existing water standpipes and watermain supply pipe will be required. This Schedule ‘B’ EA will confirm the preferred location for the new water storage facility and preferred type of water storage facility.

The Notice Study of Commencement was issued on March 20, 2026.
