Preliminary Intake Design and Investigative Studies for the Lakeshore Water Treatment Plant Expansion – Phase 3B
The 2018 MSP update identified a three-phase expansion to the Lakeshore Water Treatment Plant (WTP). The expansion required a Schedule C Municipal Class EA which was completed in 2011. In 2014 a new recommended solution was identified which resulted in improvements to the plans for the expansion and an addendum to the existing ESR. The Phase 3A expansion has been completed and increased the WTP production from its current capacity of 25.8 ML/day to 38 ML/day. Phase 3B will increase WTP production to 55 ML/day (at 20 degrees Celsius) and 44 ML/day (at 3 degrees Celsius). The Phase 3B expansion requires a second intake structure. As part of the 3A phase a 5-meter 1050mm - RW - CPP pipe section was installed and capped for future connection at the LLPS
This project will include the following works:
- Preliminary design of a second intake structure;
- All environmental investigations and studies required to support the preliminary design of the intake structure;
- Regulatory approvals
Project has been completed and will be progressing to Detailed Design RFP by December 2025.
